A selection of 'exotic' dancers perform on an assortment of stages. For the most part, the dancers are filmed below eye level, presumably so that the men in the movie audience could experience the sensation of being in an actual burlesque theater. Today, we can call it the main stage, or stage number (whatever) :) However, Carlotta, A Hot Tamale from South of the Border, is shot at eye level, with the interesting addition of a crowd of men seen from behind. Strangely, they're wearing fedoras. Maybe it's to hide their identities, and be incognito. The male audience sinks into anonymity as the women reveal themselves.
Compared to today, the dances have are a bit dated.. but still have a certain amount of appeal. Dancers do pretty much the same thing, except for the large feathers used by 'Carmelita and Her Famous Fan'. The women move through their routines with smiles our pouty looks on their faces. To their audience, they were objects of fantasy. Well done ladies, let's keep it hot, and the customers happy.
